A 22-year-old man has been arrested for driving drunk at a speed of more than 180km/hr in Christchurch.

The man will today appear in the Christchurch District Court. He was nabbed by police on the city’s northern motorway near Kaiapoi, just after 5am yesterday morning.

Inspector Derek Erasmus says the man was clocked travelling for a distance of approximately three kilometres, at 182km/hr, in an 100km/hr area.

The Warrant of Fitness on his Honda had expired in mid-January and he was on a learner licence.
